The question of Baptism is
inseparable from
ecclesiology. How one answers the question, "Who is a proper member of the church?" will shape how one answers, "Who ought to be baptized?"
The church has given two answers to question #2:
- Adults or people old enough to make a conscious decision to follow Christ.
- Adults or people old enough to make a conscious decision to follow Christ ... and their children.
The majority of Christians both now and throughout the Church's history choose answer #2. If children are proper members of the Church, then they ought to receive the sacrament of initiation into the church.
So do you believe in baptismal regeneration?
ReplyDeleteStay tuned. The answer to that will come in a subsequent post.
