Quick reflection before I am off to class. Jesus' words in John 8:12 struck me today:

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.

On a personal note, I am reminded that choosing to follow Jesus plays out in granting me the ability to navigate life in a wise manner. But on a broader note, could this statement be the basis for a post-modern apologetic? Rather than arguing that Christianity is rationaistically true, could we not arge that it is existentially true? In other words, could we not invite people to follow Christ and let them discover that their life is enlightened? In john 7:17, Jesus says if anyone is willing to do my will they shall know whether my teaching is from God or myself. Does this mean we can and outght to invite not yet believers into our communities and help them to begin loving, worshipping and connecting to Jesus? This kind of apologetic would allow them to experience Jesus enlightening life for them.

Oh well - just some thoughts, but I want to think on it more.

Please comment.

Pete
